    We’ve all heard the nightmare stories about customer service in golf clubs…. unhelpful staff, slow service in the bar or dining room, or simply being met by an unwelcoming person when you arrive… poor customer service could be upsetting your club members, costing your clubhouse and retail extra sales, and putting visitors off making a return visit.

     

    In the past where people were queuing up to join clubs and visitor business was an added bonus to the bottom-line it was possible to get away with being less customer focused. However, in today’s market where golfers have more choice and are more demanding than ever, is your golf club confident it is providing the kind of experience and service that will maximise additional spend in your club, gain repeat visitor business and satisfy your members.

The skills required to manage a profitable food and beverage service within a golf club are rarely recognised, understood, or valued, which frequently leads to unrealistic demands being placed on the staff.

     

    The challenge to try and satisfy all of the people, all of the time and return a contribution to the club is universal and unending, with every club facing the same problems on a daily basis.

     

    This seminar will assist Clubhouse Convenors and those responsible for the day-to-day operations in the clubhouse to prepare together for the challenges, and provide guidance on how to achieve best practice in managing your clubhouse operations.

    Human Resources - Fulfilling your HR Obligations

    A one day workshop, delivered by HR specialists Xact to help support Scottish golf clubs in the preparation of all HR requirements such as staff contracts and staff handbooks, using the free  website provided through your affiliation to Scottish Golf.

     

     

    Scottish clubs are already fully well aware of the need to ensure that their HR paperwork is legally compliant and fully understood by their staff. This complex and continually evolving subject can be daunting, so this workshop is designed to support those clubs who have decided to maintain HR paperwork themselves. The workshop will help you draft contracts, leaning on the HR contract builder website, provided through your affiliation to Scottish Golf.

     

    Aims of this professional development workshop

    • to help you draft all paperwork required to satisfy HR requirements at your club, including contracts &  handbooks,
    • to learn how to create customised employment contracts, & have these agreed at your club,
    • to provide a full understanding of the free HR website available to you through Scottish Golf,
    • to provide understanding of how to vary or terminate an employment contract.

     

    The workshop will be delivered by a professional from the Xact Team –

    Fiona Shanks – Associate Director HR, over 20 years’ experience in HR working for a number of blue chip organisations. Fiona leads the Xact HR advisory team, develops content for the HR website and regularly delivers bespoke training solutions for Xact clients.


    Sandra Campbell - Senior HR Consultant, over 20 years’ experience in HR working in a variety of sectors. Sandra has an Honours degree, is CIPD qualified and during her 5 years’ employment with XACT has delivered many bespoke training solutions for clients.
     

    Caroline Meth – Litigation Manager, has been with Xact for 5 years after graduating in law. Caroline provides technical support to the HR advisory team and content for the HR website.

    This seminar is aimed at Club Managers and/or Club Captains/Committee Members who recognize their responsibility for preparing, changing or ending contracts of employment.

    Scottish clubs are already fully well aware of the need to ensure that their H&S paperwork is legally compliant and fully implemented by their staff & committee members.  This complex and continually evolving subject can be daunting, so this workshop is designed toprovide support to those clubs who have decided to maintain H&S responsibilities in-house. The workshop will help you and your team to use the website provided to share responsibility for creating the H&S policy, then identify and maintain good practices throughout your organisation.

     

    Aims of this professional development workshop

    • To feel comfortable navigating the free H&S website provided,
    • To enable you to complete your H&S Policy for your Golf Club,
    • To assist others in your organisation to understand and embrace their responsibilities,
    • To be able to complete departmental risk assessments within DIY Website,
    • To be able to realise where deficiencies lie and able to document suitable controls,
    • To have the tools to be able to complete Safe systems of work,
    • To have a step by step guide to complete a H&S management system for your club.

     

    The workshop will be delivered by a professional from the Xact Team –

    Chris Hammond – H&S Divisional Manager. Chris leads the UK H&S team for Xact, and over the last 7 years has been developing the Golf Club H&S Management System.

    Linda Murray - Senior H&S Advisor. Linda has over 20 years’ experience in a variety of Health & Safety fields and is responsible for maintaining the H&S website content.

     

    Target audience for this workshop -

    This workshop is aimed at Club Managers and/or Club Captains/Committees who recognise their responsibility for managing the health and safety of their golf clubs. The workshop will also be of great value to those department heads who will be responsible for H&S in their work areas.
